By Nov. 1st it will be necessary to make final selections for the two-three Walden teams for the local competition.
That entails narrowing the group as per USAD rules to 6 students in the Scholastic category (3.75 - 4.00 GPA), 6 students
in the Honors category (3.00 - 3.74 GPA) and 6 students in the Varsity category ( under 3.00 GPA). The coach will use
a combination of the following criteria for making the selections:
1. Meeting attendance, participation and effort.
2. Experience and grade.
3. USAD category.
If the team qualifies for Regionals, the team must be narrowed to 9 individuals - 3 in each category. The following
criteria will be used:
1. Test Scores
2. Meeting attendance, participation and effort.
3. Experience and grade.
4. USAD category.
Criteria are not listed in rank order. In all cases the coach's judgment will be final. However . . . usually the greatest weight will be given to the Local test score as the best indication
of effort and preparation. 99.99%? Close . . . .
In some cases, ALTERNATES may possibly be designated for each USAD category for each stage of the competition.
Partial R.O.P.E. exemptions will be awarded to the nine team members IF a Walden team qualifies
for Regionals AND competes at the Regional competition. [Three "first alternates" will also be selected by the coach
and may also receive the exemption based on performance].
